Preparing for your visit to the dentist in Mérida

By: Dr. Guillermo Trujillo

If you already have your dates set to come see us, I want to share a couple of practical tips to make your arrival as smooth as possible. The Whiteline Crew and I are used to receiving patients from out of town, and the truth is that the process is quite simple if you know the basics.

  • To enter Mexico, you only need your valid passport. Upon arrival at Mérida airport, the immigration process is digital and quick; the agent will scan your passport and authorize your stay.

  • If you are asked about the reason for your trip, you can confidently say that you are coming to see your dentist in Mérida and to visit the city. It is important that you keep any receipts or stamps you are given, as you will be asked for them when you return home.

In terms of logistics, Mérida is very easy to navigate. To get from the airport to your accommodation or to the clinic, the most practical option is to use Uber or authorized airport taxis. We do not arrange transportation or accommodation, but the city has many high-quality options.

If you want some ideas on what to do in your free time or which areas to visit depending on how long you are staying, you can take a look at our guides "The Dental Express" for exploratory trips or "The Dental Vacation" for longer trips for treatments. There we have listed several of our favorite spots in the region for you to visit your dentists in Yucatán and take advantage of the trip to explore.

“I highly recommend these guys!! Very personable, skilled, and professional. I always travel to Whiteline and prefer them over my dentist in the USA. Exceptional quality and care.”

Regarding payments here at the clinic, you can use your international credit or debit card without worrying about extra charges on our part. For your personal expenses, I recommend withdrawing some pesos from a local ATM so you can move around more freely in small shops or markets, where cash is still the most common form of payment.

Mérida is a warm city in every sense of the word, so bring comfortable, light clothing. Remember that our dentists and the entire Whiteline team are bilingual. In Mérida, you will find friendly people who are willing to help you. Many speak English, but it wouldn't hurt to practice some basic Spanish phrases before your trip.
