Your Dental Trip to Merida: A Guide to Combine Dental Health and Tourism in Mexico
Hello, future Whiteliners!
We are The Whiteline Crew, and we are here to accompany you on your trip to Mexico, because you will not only visit Yucatan for your dental treatment, but also to discover the wonders of our region.
Merida is one of the safest and most beautiful cities in Mexico, and we want you to enjoy it to the fullest while entrusting your smile to our team.
At Whiteline, we have perfected a process that makes receiving treatment here simple and stress-free. It all starts with a free video call where we can get to know each other, review your case and make sure we are the best option for you. If everything fits, we help you plan your first trip which, if it is an exploratory trip, would typically take 3 to 5 days, to meet us in person, carry out the corresponding diagnoses and, of course, start exploring the area. To learn more, visit our Dental Tourism page or schedule a video call.
The best part: our clinic is in a very attractive area of Merida! We are located in Colonia México, a central and well-connected area that is the perfect starting point for your adventure in Mexico.
These are our favorite recommendations for leisure time, starting with the closest to the clinic:
Explore by Proximity to Whiteline
Do you have little time between appointments or prefer not to move around too much? These places are a short distance away, taking a quick trip in Uber or on the Va-y-Ven public bus routes.
En la zona Centro (<15 min en Uber):
For a bite (and a drink!): We recommend trying the energy of Mercado 60. It is a night market full of food trucks, bars and live music. It is the perfect place for a relaxed evening after your consultation.
For a quick dose of culture: Take a walk to the majestic Catedral San Ildefonso de Mérida and admire the 42-meter-high Renaissance facade. Right next door, the Palacio de Gobierno houses impressive murals that tell the history of Yucatan.
A un corto viaje (<10 min en Uber):
To feel elegant: Paseo Montejo is our version of Les Champs-Élysées. It is perfect for an afternoon stroll, to have a coffee or visit the Corredor Gastronómico, on Calle 47. We recommend renting bicycles on Sunday morning to tour the area and reach the Gran Parque La Plancha. Check out this list of points of interest on Paseo de Montejo.
For authentic flavor: Visit the Barrio de Santiago and experience local life and eat some cochinita tacos at Taquería La Lupita, in the municipal market!
“Winning Tip: Forget the Va-y-Ven app and use Google Maps to create your routes.”
Explore by Type of Experience
If you prefer to organize your agenda according to your personal interests, Yucatan has it all.
For lovers of history and culture:
Unmissable: Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, is an experience that will leave you breathless.
Hidden Gem: Avoid the crowds and explore the Ruta Puuc, which includes the impressive archaeological zone of Uxmal. You can visit the Museo Choco-Story Uxmal, a few steps from the archaeological zone.
For nature and adventure seekers:
Unmissable: Swim in a cenote! These natural pools sacred to the Mayans are a mystical experience. We recommend researching options such as Cenote Xlacah in Dzibilchaltún for a nearby option.
Hidden Gem: Take a day trip to Celestún or Río Lagartos to see colonies of pink flamingos in their natural habitat.
For foodies and those looking to relax:
Unmissable: We especially recommend taking a Tour of the Corners of Mérida, with Larisa López and Fernanda Camacho from Suburbios de Mérida.
Hidden Gem: Experience total relaxation with a Temazcal ritual at a local hacienda; it's the perfect way to recover after your procedure.
This is just the beginning. In our next article, we will propose detailed itineraries of 3 and 7 days ("The Dental Express in Yucatan" and "The Dental Vacation in Yucatan") and give you our logistical tips to get around, eat and connect like a true local.
The best part is yet to come.
In the meantime, do you have any questions? We're just a message away!
